Marked Palissy and numbered 219 2, this example was probably made in England at the Minton factory, circa 19th C. as part of the majolica pottery revival, popular at the time. Bernard Passily was a French pottery who's earlier pieces this example emulated.
This piece features an embossed dimensional surface with a not often seen brown and yellow color scheme. In addition to the rare color way, this example is actually oval in form as opposed to the more common round body.
