The six spacious drawers are flanked by pilasters ornamented with flora and leaf carved details. Five of the drawers are flat panel while the top hidden drawer is curved. Note the hand cut dovetails on the drawers. The original drawer pulls are rounded turned mahogany knobs and the original key escutcheons are brass.
The casework is constructed of solid mahogany planks and as a result there are splits due to humidity changes on the top and right side, however this does not compromise the structural integrity of the piece. The drawer interiors are constructed of pine. The chest sits a top four oversized turned turnip feet which gives this dresser such presence! This is a stunning dresser and rare to find one already in the USA.

Condition commensurate with age and use. This dresser still has the original varnish so note that there are random scratches and imperfections in the finish and wood, see photos. Note the stable splits in the top and right side panels as well as gaps in the veneer along the top curved drawer and bottom plinth, all due to humidity changes. There are numerous scratches and dents in the feet from 150 years of use. The drawers glide well and this is a very functional dresser with loads of storage space!
Please note that this is a very heavy piece of furniture... remove drawers to make it easier to move, though the casework is still heavy. See less
