A striking pair of vintage Asian clam shell-form trinket boxes finished in richly layered lacquer with warm shades of oxblood red, amber, black, and olive green. Their sculptural shell silhouette and hand-decorated finish evoke the look of traditional Japanese Wakasa lacquerware while remaining wonderfully versatile as decorative objects or small keepsake boxes.
The pair displays beautifully on a cocktail table, bookshelf, or vanity and is increasingly difficult to find together, making them an especially charming decorative accent.

As is common with hand-finished examples, the lids do not sit perfectly flush and each box has a slight wobble when resting on a flat surface. These characteristics do not detract from their decorative appeal. less
