This is an elegant set of 4 Louis XV style dining chairs by Italian furniture maker Chateau d’Ax. The chairs feature carved walnut frames with floral details on the top rail, front seat apron and knees of the cabriole legs. The backs and seats are upholstered in cocoa brown velvet and accented with antique bronze nailhead trim. Signed Chateau d’Ax under the chair seats.
The late 20th century dining chairs are in very good vintage condition. The chairs are very sturdy and solid with some evidence of repairs to the frames. The upholstery is very clean with some minor dents on the nap from storage. Scattered scratches, scuffs, and dents on the chair frames. One of the chairs is slightly different than the other three chairs, but they are all similar in design and all signed Chateau d’Ax. Each chair measures 38" tall, 20" wide, and 18" deep with an 18" seat height.
