This set of four Baker Furniture Milling Road Neoclassical armchairs exemplifies the refined classical revival aesthetic that made the Milling Road collection one of Baker's most successful introductions. Executed in richly figured mahogany, the chairs combine French Directoire and Louis XVI influences with the understated elegance of late twentieth-century American craftsmanship.

Each chair is distinguished by a graceful oval upholstered back, gently curved arms terminating in turned front supports, and tapered rear legs. The turned front legs, carved with bamboo-inspired ring turning, are fitted with cast bronze sabots, an elegant finishing detail borrowed from eighteenth-century French furniture that protected the feet while adding visual refinement. The warm mahogany displays attractive grain and a mellow satin finish that complements the light upholstery.

The chairs retain their original parchment-colored leather upholstery, accented with individually applied antique brass nailhead trim outlining the backs, arms, and generously proportioned seats. The reverse of each oval back is finished in the original muted paisley jacquard fabric in soft celadon, cream, and taupe, allowing the chairs to present beautifully from every angle. This thoughtful combination of leather and decorative textile makes them equally suitable for floating around a dining table or serving as occasional seating in a library, study, or formal living room.

Baker's Milling Road division became known for producing historically inspired furniture of exceptional quality, utilizing kiln-dried hardwood frames, premium upholstery, and traditional cabinetmaking techniques.
