A … Read more A rare matched pair of antique Jenny Lind (spool/spindle) twin headboard and footboard (could be used as a daybed). A beautifully aged antique Jenny Lind spindle bed, featuring classic turned “spool” bobbin detailing associated with mid-19th century American design. Named for the 1850s Swedish opera singer whose American tour made this turned-spindle style a Victorian-era staple. See detailed dimensions below. Missing side rails and slats.

The visible grain on the headboard panel (that lighter striping) looks tighter and straighter than mahogany's typically looser, more figured grain, which actually points toward maple or birch under that stain, not genuine mahogany. Rich dark wood finish with natural patina from age

The turning is very uniform and precise, true 1850s-60s hand/lathe work often shows slight irregularities between spindles. The finish has a glossy, even modern-look varnish/lacquer sheen rather than the duller, more worn patina you'd expect on a genuine 170+ year old piece.

Headboard - From the floor to the bottom rail is 14" high. The bottom rail is 3.25" high. The space between the top of the bottom rail and the bottom of the decorative headboard is 5". The leg is 11" high. The open space between the bobbins are 11.75" high. The space between the bobbins are about 4" wide.

Footboard - 39" high. The space between the top of the foot rail and the bottom of the bobbin is 5.75" high. The space between the side post are 41.5" wide. See less
