The piece features two owls perched together atop an oak tree, with two naturalistic trunk supports rising from a sturdy circular base adorned with a repoussé foot band. The fan-shaped, scroll-edged tray displays detailed floral engravings alongside a sheet music banner punningly inscribed: "Should Owl'd Acquaintance Be Forgot." A wonderfully whimsical, heavy Victorian conversation piece!

The manufacturer's mark under the base reads DERBY SILVER CO. QUADRUPLE PLATE. The words encircle an anchor and a crown. The production number is 3522 and there are also the words PAT. FEB. 28. 82.

MEASUREMENTS

CONDITION
There are no breaks, cracks, dents, or repairs. There are wear marks and a few silver losses, but the receiver still has a lot of silver and has polished up very well.
