An exquisite French three-piece clock garniture crafted during the mid to late 19th century, beautifully combining richly gilded metal with finely hand-painted porcelain. This elegant ensemble consists of a mantel clock accompanied by a pair of matching covered urns, all displaying exceptional French craftsmanship and refined decorative detail.
The central mantel clock measures 13 1/2 inches high, 9 1/2 inches wide, and 4 3/4 inches deep. It features a striking architectural form adorned with four beautifully modeled seated putti supporting the circular case. The richly cast gilt bronze metal frame is embellished with beaded borders, scrolling ornamentation, floral swags, and an elegant porcelain-covered urn surmounted by a decorative finial. The matching porcelain dial is decorated with delicate floral garlands surrounding black Roman numerals and finely pierced gilt hands. The clock retains its original French ébauche spring-driven brass time and strike movement, signed with the renowned maker's touchmark, "Japy Frères," one of France's most respected clock manufacturers of the 19th century.
Flanking the clock is a magnificent pair of matching covered porcelain urns, each measuring 12 1/2 inches high, 5 3/4 inches wide, and 3 inches deep. Each urn is mounted in ornate gilt bronze metal with finely cast ram's head handles and crowned by decorative flame-form finials. The rich deep burgundy porcelain bodies are enhanced with lavish gilt foliate decoration framing beautifully hand-painted oval reserve scenes depicting elegantly dressed figures in period attire. The urns are supported on sculptural bases featuring charming seated putti that mirror those of the central clock, creating a harmonious and balanced composition throughout the garniture. The garniture is in good condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use.
