Design Plus Gallery presents the “Wild Lace,” an Original Etching by Elaine R. Simel. The vertical botanical composition portrays tall wildflowers rising above layers of densely rendered foliage in muted olive, cream, gray, and black tones. Expressive linework and varied textures give the floral scene an atmospheric quality. The work is titled, numbered 23 of 250, and signed in pencil by the artist along the lower margin. Simel studied at the High School of Music & Art in New York and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts cum laude from Syracuse University. Her training also included study under Josef Albers and Harry Sternberg. The etching is presented beneath glass, surrounded by a linen mat and a distressed giltwood frame. It is in good condition; visible and minimal wear from usage.
