This splendid and elegant centerpiece dressing table features a refined geometric herringbone and diamond-patterned marquetry that completely covers the top and curved sides. The piece features a sinuous, flowing line with slender cabriole legs, typical of the Louis XV (Rococo) style, reinterpreted with great mastery and formal precision. Lifting the top reveals a built-in mirror supported by an engraved brass mechanism, while the interior conceals a storage compartment and a practical central drawer divided into compartments for holding small objects or cosmetics. Historically, the piece dates to the second half of the 19th century (roughly between 1860 and 1880), a period characterized by great eclecticism and the revival of historical French styles during the Second Empire, likely of French or Northern Italian manufacture.
It shows some signs of aging, such as that on the mirror, but these do not detract from the piece's beauty.
