This Really is an Exceptionally Nice Looking Antique American Primitive Stoneware Jug. Circa Late 19th Century - Approx 1870s. These were typically used for Liquids - Spring Water - Ciders - Hard Cider and Other Spirits. It has an Exceptionally Beautiful - Large Cobalt Blue Hand Decorated Stylized Floral Design on the Front. It Also has a Wonderful & Very Uniform in Color Sandy Salt Glaze Exterior as well as Some Interesting Tiny Rust Color Dots Sprinkles that Cascade Down from the Spout. It is Embossed with the Number 2 Denoting its 2 Gallon Liquid Storage Capacity. It is Signed by the Well Documented American Massachusetts Stoneware Maker Frank. B. Norton - Embossed F. B. NORTON & CO. WORCESTER, MASS. It is in Excellent All Original Condition and it Displays Beautifully!. Imperfections Noted It has 1 Very Small Chip at the Back Spout & Handle. It Also has a Faint Surface Only Hairline at the Lower Handle Attach Area but This is Absolutely a Kiln Flaw - Would have Occurred in the Making - Firing Process. These Can Be Seen in Some of the Photographs in my Listing.

It has 1 Very Minor Chip at the Top Rims Inner Perimeter Rim. No other Damage - No Cracks - No Repairs. It has a Small Surface Glaze Imperfection- Brown Spot at The Base Rim Perimeter but This Would have Occurred in the Making - Kiln Firing Process. Stoneware Pieces Like This were Fired in Very Large Kilns with Many Other Pieces at the Same Time and Many Types of Kiln Flaws are Quite Common. It is in Strong - Sound and Perfectly Usable if so Desired. less
