A pair of oval serving plates by Japanese potter Seigan Yamane (山根清玩), each glazed in deep cobalt that pools from a pale blue centre to an indigo rim, finished with an iron-brown edge. Both reverses carry the potter's impressed seal.
The glaze breaks unevenly across each surface, lighter where it thins over the rise of the well and darker in the recesses. The rims are irregular and hand-formed, the feet left bare-bodied. No two firings settle the glaze identically, so the two plates read as a matched pair rather than duplicates. Shōwa period.
Measurements, each: 31 × 16 × 3.5 cm.
