An exceptional italian florentine tole chandelier, circa 1950, showcasing the finest tradition of italian decorative metalwork. This remarkable piece combines delicate hand-shaped iron craftsmanship, elegant gilt details and a beautifully preserved original polychrome painted finish. The chandelier is a wonderful example of mid-century florentine artistry, a style that reached international recognition in the 1940s–1960s through its romantic interpretation of earlier italian rococo and garden-inspired designs. Due to the extraordinary amount of handwork and the traditional manufacturing techniques, an earlier production date in the late 1930s or 1940s is also possible. Every single leaf, flower and branch has been individually formed from metal and arranged into a highly detailed botanical composition. The craftsmanship is exceptionally fine: soft turquoise and aqua green leaves, delicate pink, ivory and blue flowers are combined with beautifully aged gold-gilt accents. The original painted surface has developed a wonderful natural patina over the decades, giving the chandelier its unique character and authenticity. The contrast between the softly aged white painted structure, the original gilding and the colorful floral decoration creates a truly elegant and timeless appearance. When illuminated, the chandelier produces a magical atmosphere, with the floral metalwork casting beautiful reflections and shadows around the room. A very special feature is the outstanding original condition. The original candle sleeves are still present and show an authentic age-related patina, perfectly matching the overall appearance of the chandelier. The surface has not been over-restored, preserving the charm, history and decorative quality collectors appreciate. The chandelier has five e14 screw bulb sockets. The original european two-wire electrical system is preserved, fully functional and in very good condition. The fixture currently has no ground connection, as was common for many european chandeliers of this period. Grounding can easily be added by the buyer’s electrician or, upon request and with additional preparation time, arranged before shipment. For customers in the united states, e12 screw adapters are included. These adapters fit directly and invisibly into the existing e14 sockets, allowing easy use with standard us bulbs. The chandelier is also suitable for modern energy-saving led bulbs.
