Fortuny fabrics are still hand-printed, as they have been since 1922, at the Giudecca Island factory, where the inner workings and printing techniques remain secret.

Appropriate for upholstery, wallcovering, window treatments, pillows, and other home accessories, this damask pattern was named after Madame de SEVIGNE. It is a 100% cotton base cloth with a metallic surface print. The ID is stamped on the selvage. It is an antique colored gold.

“Madame de SEVIGNE is yet another fantastic French historical figure who captivated Mariano Fortuny’s imagination, like Richelieu, Mazzarino, or Lamballe. The 17th-century people and the designs they inspired are both excessive in their riches. SEVIGNE is filled with feathery plumes and foliage that extols the glories of the garden and the dolce vita. Mme de Sevigne herself was known for flowery embellishment with her letter writing, considered a jewel of 17th-century French literature.”
