Made of dense lignum vitae … Read more Pair of Early 20th Century Scottish Monogramed Hardwood Lawn Balls by Thomas Taylor of Glasgow. Made of dense lignum vitae hardwood these heavy 5" in diameter 7 lbs each lawn balls have bone insets with the monogram "F. W." on each and the numbers "1" and "2" on the reverse side insets. Marked with "Thomas Taylor Glasgow" and also with stamped British Isle Bowling Council "BB" stamps that indicate they were certified for competition in "1927", "1931" and "1946". These are great display pieces that are beautiful examples of early 20th century Scottish workmanship. The rich worn patina indicates they were actually used quite often in actual competition! They make a striking accent for a large variety of decors and bring that classic old sporting influence to your design. See less
