The Kuba Basket Royal Beaded Raffia with Shells is a traditional craft originating from the Kuba Kingdom, now situated in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Renowned for their intricate beauty and cultural significance, these baskets are crafted by the skilled Kuba people using natural materials like raffia palm. The process involves harvesting, dyeing, and weaving the raffia fibers using the "kasai velvet" technique, resulting in raised patterns with symbolic motifs. Shells, carefully selected from nearby water sources, are integrated into the design, enhancing its visual appeal. Beyond decorative purposes, Kuba Baskets hold cultural importance in ceremonies and rituals, symbolizing wealth and heritage within the Kuba community. Their exceptional craftsmanship has garnered global recognition, with these artifacts often displayed in museums and private collections worldwide, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Kuba people and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
