Double sided, featuring both smoked and clear glass panels in the design.

Centerpiece is s simple shield or crest, in dark red with old gold wings.

Fabrication is in excellent clean and strong condition, with a late 20th C. red paint finish on both faces of the window frame itself.

Approx. 20" x 20" square.

Likely successful architectural salvage, saving yet another beautiful design treasure. Probably historic Virginia or Maryland.

My husband likes stained glass, shields, crests and flags (the anglophile in him), so from time to time he brings home treasures like this.

At fist glance I thought "sure...simple, clean, nice centerpiece crest shape, good glass, sturdy...why not..." and promptly used it in a table scape on our front porch, on an old chippy white French folding table with a weather beaten Arabian pottery bowl. Something to simply walk by an look clean...nothing more.

Well, to my surprise, our guests have frequently remarked about this window! The rich paint color, the shield ("is this one of your family symbols?"), the fact it's double sided...fascinating!

I guess it is a people pleaser, and is - in fact! - a marvelous outdoor item. Tremendous value, and please feel free to make up your own tale about the symbolism of the shield! See less
