The crown/hat is in fair condition, missing three brass studs, needs light restitching, and could use a careful, professional cleaning.

The crown features rich cerulean blue velvet body juxtaposed against soft pink saw-tooth silk panels. A centered, gold-plated rosette statement brooch with turquoise-colored rhinestones surrounding a central magenta glass gem highlights the forehead. Ornate gold-toned metallic wave brocade weaves along the crown's edges. Polished brass dome studs line the top points. A gathered, draped satin sash wraps around the entire crown.

The inside of this crown shows the maker's mark from the historical company, "The M.C. Lilley & Co." (Columbus, Ohio). This specific branding can be dated to between 1882 and 1925. After 1925, the company shortened its name to "The Lilley Co."
