This substantial ecclesiastical artifact features an octagonal hardstone base adorned with deeply carved quatrefoil panels. Each panel reveals significant Christian symbols and inscriptions, including "ONE LORD," "ONE FAITH," and "ONE BAPTISM," alongside the Alpha (A) and Omega (Ω) symbols, a cross, and the "IHC" Christogram. Topping the hardstone is an octagonal oak surround, providing the basin for the holy water. Rising from the font is an ornate brass boom, distinguished by its intricate scrollwork and decorative floral accents. The brass boom culminates in a prominent cross finial, which proudly displays a central "IHC" monogram. Extending from the font is a robust wrought iron boom arm, featuring elegant scrollwork and terminating in a decorative cross. This piece embodies the rich artistic and spiritual traditions of the Gothic Revival era, making it a profound statement piece for collectors of antique religious artifacts or architectural elements.
