An extraordinary, investment-grade piece of New York City high-society history. This heavy-weight silver soldered oval platter was custom-crafted by the legendary silversmiths at Gorham specifically for the grand opening of the iconic Hotel Pierre in October 1930.
Featuring a stunning, deeply lustrous finish and a classic ornate gadrooned border, this versatile serving tray carries an unmistakable "Old Money" grandeur. It is the perfect size to host an antique gravy boat, a fine teapot display, or to serve as a high-end floral centerpiece base or cocktail tray.
Historical Provenance:
The underside features a crisp, beautifully preserved set of markings:
Stamped "Hotel Pierre" in the hotel's signature antique script.
Stamped "1930" — confirming it as part of the original, inaugural dining service commissioned for the hotel’s historic grand opening.
Stamped with the official Gorham anchor hallmark and serial number 014298.
Stamped "Silver Soldered", indicating the heaviest, most durable commercial-grade silver plating meant to withstand the elite banquets of Manhattan's upper crust.
