Offered for sale is an extraordinary monumental French Louis XVI style pedestal clock, signed Haentges Frères, Paris, representing the finest traditions of French decorative arts. This impressive architectural clock combines an exquisitely sculpted gilt bronze (ormolu) clock case with a richly veneered mahogany pedestal lavishly decorated with finely chased ormolu mounts.

The beautifully enameled white dial is signed Haentges Frères, Paris and is surrounded by an elaborate sculptural composition of winged cherubs (putti), flowing drapery, floral garlands, and Rococo-inspired ornament, all executed in finely cast and chased gilt bronze.

The original matching pedestal is veneered in richly figured mahogany and adorned throughout with exceptional ormolu mounts including laurel garlands, floral swags, classical urns, acanthus leaves, ribbon motifs, and a striking sunburst mask. The elegant tapered pedestal terminates on a richly mounted platform base supported by finely cast toupie feet.
