The arms of the fixture emanate from a central column of stacked spheres, they are curved and curled like the stylized "hooks" so often seen in Chinoiserie decorative arts to represent waves of water or wind. Alternatively, the serpentine profile has a flair of Neoclassical that is particularly evident in the motif around each bobeche.
