A dramatic statement chair in the … Read more 18th century hand carved Italian Rococo paint decorated and parcel gilt upholstered side chair. A dramatic statement chair in the Venetian manner of a soft mint green with nature inspired floral and leaf gilt embellishments. It features a cartouche shaped crest with a Chinoiserie inspired fan motif and scalloped apron with a central single gold flower, raised on robust front cabriole legs balanced by straight legs in the rear. The cream-colored upholstery is dated 1966, NYC.

The chair is entirely hand carved with pegged construction boasting fine Italian craftsmanship and a very solid frame. It displays a distressed and aged finish with chipping to the paint, cracks and a missing stretcher. Still this piece stands strong proudly showcasing it storied past with a character all its own and ready for its next chapter. See less
