Its … Read more On offer is a vintage Murano art glass centerpiece bowl crafted in Italy, showcasing highly intricate Venetian glassmaking techniques. Its styling, material and execution are characteristic of mid-20th-century Murano production (circa 1950s–1960s)—closely aligned with the historical designs of legendary furnaces like Salviati or Fratelli Toso.
The bowl exhibits “Zanfirico/Latticino” canework, as it was constructed from specialized glass rods known as canes. These canes feature tightly twisted internal threads of color that create the delicate, repeating chevron or "zigzag" patterns stretching across the vessel.
The design uses a sophisticated, multi-tonal arrangement of alternating ribbons in dusty pink, canary yellow, orange, chocolate brown and opaque white, all suspended within crystal-clear glass. When viewed from above, the complex canes converge precisely in the center, spiraling out into a tight, vortex-like pinwheel pattern.
Further, the body is shaped into an organic, oval form with slightly pinched or pulled ends. Elevating the bowl into an elegant silhouette is an applied, solid ribbed and crimped pedestal foot in clear glass lightly infused with gold.
