The … Read more An magnificent set of ten Italian Regency or Country Provincial style dining armchairs designed by Minton-Spidell, Los Angeles, CA. The grand set consists of all armchairs constructed with a solid carved beech wood frame in a warm honey-amber finish. The frames are intentionally weathered with a lightly distressed patina to mimic age. The shield-shaped back panel, outlined by a serpentine molded frame with notched lower corners, is surmounted by a boldly hand-carved foliate crest rail made up of leaves and blossoms. Gently curved arms sweep into acanthus-carved terminals, supported by turned arm posts. The chairs rest on four square, chamfered, and tapering legs connected by a molded seat rail with a shaped lower edge. The exceptional Asian inspired upholstery, applied to the back, arms, and seat, consists of a woven jacquard fabric depicting white cranes in full display amidst lush fan-shaped plumage and tropical foliage in jewel-like tones of cobalt blue, golden ochre, and silvery-grey. The distinctive fabric compliments the tone and style of the carved wood frames. The chairs are sturdy and strong having solid joinery and construction in exceptional condition as seen in photos. The elegant chairs blend Italian Regency, Louis XVI, and Country Provincial styles, suitable for a variety of interiors. Minton-Spidell labels are present underneath the seats.
