This Murano uranium glass bowl by Galliano Ferro was produced in Italy during the mid-twentieth century and exemplifies the bold use of colour and form for which the maker became known. Crafted using the sommerso technique, the piece combines a rich amber core suspended within a thick layer of fluorescent uranium glass, creating a striking visual contrast. Formed in an elegant kidney-shaped silhouette, the bowl possesses a fluid organic profile characteristic of post-war Murano glass design. Throughout the body, countless controlled bullicante bubbles are suspended within the glass, adding texture, movement and depth while enhancing the optical qualities of the piece. When exposed to ultraviolet light, the uranium glass emits a vivid fluorescent green glow, dramatically transforming its appearance and highlighting the complexity of the sommerso construction. The contrast between the luminous yellow-green outer layer and the deep amber centre creates a particularly graphic effect, a design language frequently associated with Galliano Ferro's most recognisable decorative works. Both sculptural and functional, the bowl works equally well as a decorative centrepiece, vide-poche, catchall or standalone display object. Its unusual colour combination and strong visual presence make it an especially desirable example of collectible Murano art glass. Condition is good for age and use, with minor wear to the exterior and light superficial wear to the polished base consistent with age. No chips, cracks or repairs observed.
