Part of a curated private collection of European and Asian antiquities, this rare pair of late 19th-century French Louis XV style fauteuils en cabriolet (miniature armchairs) features exceptional hand-carved elmwood frames. Hand-selected for their authentic curved silhouettes and the raw beauty of their construction, these pieces embody old-world craftsmanship in a highly sought-after, small-scale format.
Design & Restoration Potential:Offered as a unique matching set, one chair is fully upholstered in a rich green velvet seat and a delicate floral tapestry backrest accented by antique metal nailhead trim. Its companion remains stripped down to an open, bare frame, beautifully showcasing the masterful hand-carved elmwood joinery and hand-tool marks.
Designer & Upholsterer Special:Skip the tedious teardown process! This solid pair of late 19th-century French fauteuils has already had one chair cleanly prepped down to the original structural webbing, allowing you to easily inspect the pristine, wobble-free joinery before building your custom seat. Perfect for high-end upholstery projects, fabric matching, or a striking "deconstructed antique" showroom display.

Both chairs are structurally sound, well-balanced, and exhibit a beautiful, time-earned patina with authentic signs of age. Sold as a pair. The frames show expected historical wood darkening near the feet and typical rusting on the original upholstery brads and tacks. The unfinished frame shows minor cloudy white blushing in the finish. These minor cosmetic imperfections are completely standard for 19th-century project items and will be naturally addressed or covered during the standard reupholstery process. less
