Neo-Classical / Victorian Revival styling inspired by 19th century carved shell and hardstone cameo jewelry. Silver toned rhodium plated base metal with molded faux shell resin cameo insert in slate blue-gray and cream white tones. The lid features a raised dual profile “Twin Sisters” scene with two classical women in profile, one holding a small bird, surrounded by finely detailed hair, drapery, and jewelry relief work.

The compact is framed with a tightly twisted double row rope border and matching silver toned side walls, designed to resemble a traditional jewelry setting. Circular form with a hinged closure and compact interior pan.

Originally designed to hold a solid perfume wax disc, commonly associated with Estée Lauder Youth Dew fragrance. Intended as a luxury vanity object and portable purse accessory.
