Circa the 1920’s … Read more This fun and whimsical piece has a naughty connotation for the time period it came out of. Circa the 1920’s or 1930’s, the little bloomers are pave set with single cut diamonds, and have a milgrain border and row of caliber cut triangular rubies along the bottom. What is so funny and endearing about this piece is the tiny padlock off to the side, suggesting this is a chastity belt and only your lover has the key. Intricate workmanship went into the piece’s construction, including the caliber cut rubies and curved, bas relief three-dimensional shape of the charm, which is more involved than constructing a flat charm.

The charm contains 25 natural antique diamonds that measure approximately 1.5 mm each for a TCW of approximately 0.40 of a carat. The diamonds are bright and lively, G-H in color, and VS2 in clarity. There are eight natural antique caliber cut rubies for a TCW of approximately 0.50 of a carat.

The charm measures 3/4” x 3/8”, plus a 4.9 mm bail. It weighs 1.7 grams. Unmarked; the charm acid tests as platinum and the bail acid tests as 14k white gold. See less
