A striking two-panel folding screen from the Meiji era (1868–1912), finished in silver leaf. Minimalist yet powerful in presence, it shows natural aging of silver leaf that enhances its character. This type of silver screen is highly sought after for both display and interior use.

Framed in wood. Bronze metal hardware with family crest motifs

The back shows the original paper backing of traditional woodblock printed text, probably from a historic publication of the Meiji period.
Historical Repurposing: In historical Japan (Edo and Meiji periods), sheets from old books or leftover print runs were frequently reused as backing material, insulation, or wallpaper (harifuda or fusumaunderlayment) inside traditional houses. The damaged, peeling plaster over the wood framework shows how these printed pages were layered underneath. See less
