Gertraude Zebe's works move effortlessly between sculpture, design object, and collector's item. Characteristic is her distinctive formal language, which does not interpret animal motifs naturalistically, but rather reduces them to their essence. The result is objects of remarkable presence and timeless naturalness.
Gertraude Zebe belongs to that generation of female artists who, outside of major artistic movements, developed an independent and unmistakable formal language. In an era when sculpture and design were still largely dominated by male perspectives, she created a body of work that deliberately defies easy categorization. Her pieces follow no trend or school of thought, but rather a highly personal understanding of form, expression, and proportion.
Like many successful art and design objects, this bronze sculpture achieves its effect not through size or loudness, but through its quiet presence. It blends seamlessly into any interior while still asserting its own distinct identity. Over time, one discovers ever new details, proportions, and nuances of expression.
There are objects that one looks at and forgets. And there are those that remain in the memory. Gertraude Zebe's Zezoo works belong to that rare category of pieces whose impact doesn't diminish but rather deepens with time.
The last image shows a second sculpture, which is not included in this offer. A lip balm stick is used for size comparison and is not included. This piece has an attribution mark,
