Handcrafted in the Philippines, this exceptional sculptural lamp depicts an animated orchestra of monkeys playing trumpets and drums atop a tiered drum-form base adorned with hand-applied leather accents and decorative lacing. The lamp retains its original and highly desirable monkey trumpeter finial, a detail often missing from surviving examples. Finished in a rich bronze-tone patina, the lamp showcases the playful artistry and superior craftsmanship that made Maitland-Smith one of the premier luxury decorative arts manufacturers of the late 20th century. Standing an impressive 35 inches tall, this statement piece is equally at home in Hollywood Regency, eclectic, tropical, maximalist, or traditional interiors.
