Exquisite vintage French Louis XV style wingback armchair composed of a carved walnut frame with cabriole legs, loose zippered T … Read more Exquisite vintage French Louis XV style wingback armchair composed of a carved walnut frame with cabriole legs, loose zippered T seat cushion with feather down cushion insert, upholstered in a Cowtan and Tout red and tan “Madura” fabric designed in Belgium by Jane Churchill composed of viscose, polyester, linen, bearing red clipped velvet motifs. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, it has had some frame regluing and touch up and the back is a bit sun faded and is priced accordingly. This is a GORGEOUS vintage French Louis XV style wingback armchair composed of a carved wonderful walnut frame with lovely hand carved decorative details, an arched back, and charming cabriole legs hosting a loose zippered T seat cushion with a fabulous feather down cushion insert, upholstered in a STUNNING vintage Cowtan and Tout red and tan “Madura” fabric designed in Belgium by Jane Churchill composed of a viscose, polyester, and linen tan “background” bearing distinctive red clipped velvet diamond-like motifs. In case you wondered… Cowtan and Tout is an elite fabric and wallcovering brand founded in 1924 serving as an exclusive North American distributer for several prestigious international textile houses. Colfax and Fowler Group located in London, acquired Cowtan and Tout in 1988 and today they function as a B2B distributer supplying interior designers and architects “to the trade only” from its New York corporate headquarters and through numerous showrooms. Jane Churchill collections are known for their use of beautiful florals and geometrics which are typically woven or embroidered. I mean… Seriously… Isn’t this fabric NEXT LEVEL GORGEOUS???!!! We certainly think so!!! This particular Cowtan and Tout fabric is in beautiful condition (with the exception of a bit of sun fading on the back) and… FYI… we have a bit of an “inside scoop” where this chair is concerned. You know that saying “what goes around, comes BACK around?” That’s absolutely true in this instance!! My parents are notable retired interior designers… and if you lived in the Topeka, Kansas, or surrounding vicinity… you knew who they were, and you DEFINITELY wanted to hire them to redesign your living space!!! This piece was a part of a collection they originally did for a past client and now… A FEW years later, those pieces have come back around, and MAN are they still beautiful!!! It bears an eye-catching French Louis XV style aesthetic you are sure to love for years to come! This chair will be fantastic in almost ANY room of your home whether a corner of your bedroom, next to the sofa in your living room, floating in the study facing the fireplace, or in the entry for a SPECTACULAR space to stop and remove your shoes!!
