Vintage 1976 Estée Lauder “Fluted Heart” solid perfume compact, highly collectible from the late 1970s era of novelty shaped Estée Lauder vanity releases. Romantic / Traditional Elegance styling with a sculptural heart form and decorative rope trim detailing.
Heavy gold toned cast metal construction with bright polished gold finish and natural antique patina developing in recessed areas and along edges. The compact is formed as a symmetrical three dimensional heart with a tightly framed twisted rope border running along the entire perimeter. The lid features stepped nested heart layers that rise toward a central smooth panel designed to reflect light. Hidden hinge mechanism sits at the top indentation, allowing the compact to open like a locket style case.
Originally designed to hold a concentrated block of solid perfume wax in the lower heart compartment, commonly associated with Estée Lauder Youth Dew fragrance. Intended as a luxury purse accessory and vanity object.
It can be repurposed by refilling with your favorite scented or tinted balm for a compact summer refresher.
