A highly decorative French vase clock executed in cobalt blue porcelain with elaborate gilt bronze mounts, produced in the Napoleon III taste during the late 19th to early 20th century. The elegant urn-shaped body is richly ornamented with scrolling gilt decoration, floral reserves, and finely cast handles terminating in stylized foliate motifs.
The deep cobalt porcelain contrasts beautifully with the warm aged gilding, creating the refined theatrical aesthetic characteristic of French decorative arts of the Second Empire revival period. The sculptural finial and ornate pierced base further enhance the silhouette, giving the piece a distinctly architectural presence suitable for both classical and eclectic interiors.
The enamel dial remains exceptionally well preserved, featuring finely drawn black numerals and elegant pierced hands beneath the original glass. The clock retains its original pendulum, and the movement has reportedly undergone ultrasonic cleaning and adjustment. The mechanism currently runs very well and keeps time correctly.
Beyond its horological function, the piece serves as an important decorative object, combining porcelain artistry with French bronze work in a form strongly associated with luxury interiors of the Belle Époque period.
