A remarkable survivor from Massachusetts’ rich shoe-manufacturing history, this authentic factory rolling shoe rack once served on the production floor of a New England footwear factory. Crafted from solid hardwood with beautifully worn surfaces and decades of honest use, the piece embodies the industrial character and craftsmanship that made Massachusetts a center of American shoe production in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The rack features multiple graduated shelves designed for organizing and transporting footwear through various stages of manufacturing. Original industrial leveling casters remain intact, while the aged patina, factory markings, and timeworn finish tell the story of over a century of service. Today, it functions equally well as a statement display piece, retail merchandising rack, bookshelf, pantry organizer, or entryway storage solution.
Its sculptural form, authentic wear, and warm honey-toned wood create the perfect balance of industrial utility and rustic charm. Pieces with documented shoe-factory origins have become increasingly sought after by collectors, designers, and loft-style interiors due to their rarity and historical significance.
The stenciled factory marking visible on the lower tray (CAT. 450 6”) and the original industrial hardware add authenticity and appeal. Massachusetts shoe-factory pieces are especially desirable because of the state’s historic connection to American footwear manufacturing, particularly in cities such as Lynn, Brockton, and Marlborough.
