This Japanese kibachi dates from 1949, as noted in the handwritten Japanese inscription on the underside. Alongside the date, the inscription also includes a Japanese name, most likely that of a former owner or user. Bowls of this type were traditionally used for mixing or kneading ingredients, combining everyday functionality with simple, honest craftsmanship.

The wood shows a rich, soft grain with natural tonal variation, visible signs of use and small age-related lines. The rounded shape, broad rim and hand-finished surface give the bowl a calm yet strong presence.

Today, this kibachi works beautifully as a decorative fruit bowl, a vessel for moss, dried flowers or textiles, or as a standalone object on a low table, cabinet, console or plinth.
