Elegant French mantel clock from the late 18th century, designed in Louis XV style with a Paris mechanical movement and striking mechanism for hours and half-hours. It is inspired by the style of clockmaker Henri–Charles Balthasar, who worked at the court of King Louis XV of France.

This model features a superb gilt bronze case with a curving, violoncello-shaped silhouette. The decoration shows an abundance of finely chiselled vegetal motifs and scrolls, complemented by an openwork section below the dial and an ornate vase-shaped finial at the top. The hands are Louis XV-style pierced hands on a white enamel porcelain dial with double numerals, protected by a glass door that can be opened, as well as a rear door for accessing the movement.

Its mechanism is a Paris-type mechanical movement, providing rhythmic striking for the hours and half-hours. The clock is sold complete with its original accessories, including the pendulum and winding key. See less
