A beautiful and complete set of twelve mid-century English Wedgwood transferware plates created for the Williamsburg Restoration and featuring engravings by renowned architectural artist Samuel Chamberlain.
Produced by Wedgwood of Etruria & Barlaston, England, each plate depicts a different historic Williamsburg, Virginia landmark rendered in finely detailed monochromatic transferware. The collection includes scenes such as Bruton Parish Church, The Public Gaol, The George Wythe House, The Court House of 1770, Archibald Blair's Storehouse, and other notable Colonial Williamsburg buildings and residences.
The plates feature elegant scalloped rims accented with delicate botanical motifs surrounding richly engraved architectural scenes. The reverse of each plate contains the corresponding historical description, adding both decorative and educational appeal.
This complete set presents beautifully as wall décor, displayed in a cabinet, or incorporated into a traditional dining room, library, or Colonial-inspired interior.
