Early 20th century American banjo clock crafted by the Sessions Clock Company of Forestville, CT. The piece exemplifies the Federal Revival Period style. Mahogany finished cased with circular dial and Arabic numerals topped by a brass (needs polish) eagle finial. The throat and lower box decorated with reverse painted glass tablets. Throat displays stylized anchor and scrollwork. While the lower tablet depicts a detailed three-masted naval vessel under full sail. Brass side rails flank the neck.
This piece served as a functional time clock and a patriotic decorative element in American homes in the early 1900’s.
Needs key, professional cleaning and overhaul by a horologist.
