A set of 11 service plates by Edelstein Bavaria, Germany, circa 1930s–40s. At a generous 12” diameter, these are oversized service plates — the showpiece of a formal place setting, designed to anchor the table and never be covered by food, so the gold stays front and center.
The wide borders are acid-etched raised gold in a dense scrolling foliate pattern, framed by emerald green banding and a delicate band of gilt scrollwork on a soft cream ground. The white center is left clean, the way the best presentation plates were made. Marked on the reverse with the Edelstein Bavaria backstamp.
