A commanding and impressive large platter in the highly collectible Crescent Pinwheel pattern. Produced in Staffordshire, England for the American market, this substantial piece makes a bold statement — the generous scale allows the bold cobalt flow blue border, vivid iron-red floral decoration, and gilded foliate accents to display at their most dramatic. Large platters of this size are among the most striking display pieces in the Gaudy Welsh canon.
Condition is very good overall with no chips or cracks — four small spots of glaze loss on the edge are the only notable flaws, minor considerations on a piece of this age, scale, and rarity. Decoration remains vibrant and the gilt strong throughout. Use and wear marks are entirely consistent with nearly two centuries of honest age.
Large platters in this pattern are genuinely scarce and seldom come to market in this condition.
