A handsome pair of Mid-Century brass fireplace andirons by The Harvin Co., featuring classic Federal styling with ball-and-claw feet and turned finials. These substantial pieces retain their original front guards and display beautifully whether placed in a hearth, library, or traditional interior.
The brass has developed a rich aged surface over time with both warm brown oxidation and areas of green verdigris throughout. The patina is especially noticeable on the feet, finials, and recessed details, giving the pair the character and presence that only decades of age can create. Structurally, both andirons remain solid and sturdy.
The original rear log supports are no longer present. The front guards remain intact, and the mounting points for the removable rear supports are still present should replacements ever be sourced. As they are today, they serve as striking decorative fireplace accessories with wonderful historic character.
Exact production date is unknown, though these appear to be an earlier Harvin Co. example, likely dating to the 1940s or 1950s prior to Virginia Metalcrafters production.

The brass remains structurally sound with expected surface wear consistent with age and use. The original rear supports are no longer present; one andiron retains both rear mounting screws while the other retains one screw. These screws are located on the back and are not visible from the front when displayed. less
