This Really is an Absolutely Beautiful & Very Fine Quality Antique Wall Barometer. It Comes from the Tail End of the Classic Victorian Era - Circa Late 19th Century. It has No Maker Marks but It is Continental European - Most Likely Made in Germany. It has a Thick Transparent - Revers Painted Beveled Glass Dial that Reveals the Beautifully Made Barometer Mechanism. The Case is Hand Craved Out of Genuine Honduras Mahogany with Black Lacquer "Ebonized" Highlights. It Still Retains it Original Varnish that is in Excellent Condition and it Displays Beautifully. It is in Very Good Working - Functional Condition. No Damage - No Repairs.
It Measures Overall Approx.
10 inches Tall - Long.
2 3/8 inches Wide - Deep as Displayed - Mounted on Wall.
HOW TO SET - CALIBRATE THE BAROMETER WHEN IT ARRIVES.
The Back of the Case has a Hole that Gives access to a Small Screw that can Be accessed with a Small Screwdriver This Being Used to Accurately Set - Calibrate The Barometric Pressure at your Specific Location ( Screwdriver Pictured is Used to illustrate and Not Included With This Sale ). To Set the Barometer to Your Location First Determine the True Barometric Pressure at that Moment and Then Insert a Small Screwdriver. By Turning the Screw while Looking at the Dial you can Move the Hand to the Proper Barometric Pressure and then the Barometer is Set. Next Step - The Beveled Glass Front has Another Pointer ( Gold Color ) That Can be Turned - Adjusted With the Small Brass Knob so then Rotate the Pointer So That it Covers - Is Directly Over the Barometers Indicator Hand. After That You Will be Able to Use it as a Reference Point as the Barometer Hand Moves - Changes.
