This lovely wooden instrument is a Sarangi, it almost looks like an ancient artifact! It is the main bow instrument of Southeast Asia- India, Bangladesh and Pakistan. It is used in the traditonal Punjabi folk music, Rajasthani, Sindhi and Boro folk music. Resonator box is carved from a single piece of wood. The harmony table is of leather. The music that emanates is said to resemble the sounds of a human voice. This piece is attached (glued) to the lucite base, it is a display or decorative piece only. See less
