Four Place Settings Assembled From Two Period Rosenthal Production Runs of the Same Bjørn Wiinblad "Motif" Studio Linea Pattern.
A sophisticated 16-piece porcelain dinnerware service designed by renowned Danish artist Bjørn Wiinblad for Rosenthal Germany, circa 1960s–1970s.
Executed in glossy white porcelain, the "Motif" Studio Linea pattern features a striking all-over embossed relief decoration that creates a dramatic interplay of light and shadow. The monochromatic design highlights the sculptural quality of the porcelain, making the set feel as relevant today as it did during Rosenthal's celebrated mid-century design era.
The set includes four complete place settings:
• 4 Dinner Plates
• 4 Salad / Side Plates
• 4 Cups
• 4 Saucers (1 has the traditional foot depression, 3 do not they are flat like the plates)
Each piece is marked Rosenthal Germany and bears Wiinblad's facsimile signature.
An interesting aspect of this set is that it appears to have been assembled from two period production runs of the same pattern. Backstamp variations, subtle differences in porcelain tone, and slight variations in the crispness of the relief decoration suggest manufacture during different points within the pattern's production history. The pieces remain fully compatible in form and design, creating a cohesive service while offering an intriguing glimpse into Rosenthal's evolving production methods.
One plate retains its original German Kontrollstelle inspection label.
Condition is excellent vintage condition with glossy finish and well-preserved relief decoration throughout. No chips or cracks observed.
A beautiful example of Scandinavian-inspired modern design from one of Europe's most influential porcelain manufacturers, equally suited for display, entertaining, or everyday use.
