This is a Great Looking - Very Rare & Unusual Antique American Stoneware Salad Dressing Crock - Jug. Circa Early 1900s. Approx. 1 Gallon Size. It is done in the Classic American Style 2 Color Coffee Brown and Off White Color Stoneware Style with a Glossy Slip Outer Glaze. Front is Decorated In Blue Lettering with The Merchant - Sellers Name - Reads ROYAL SALAD DRESSING Etc. The Top - Spout would have originally been sealed with a Large Cork Stopper. Back in the day these type of jugs and other stoneware containers were On Loan to Customers from the Product Manufacturers so that They Could be Used and Refilled. Condition No Cracks - No Repairs. It has some Minor Note! that it has a Small Chip on the Spout Rim. It also has a Black Line - Stain on the Back Side as well as a few very minor surface glaze imperfection that would have occurred in the Kiln - Firing Process. It Displays Very Nicely.
I Acquired this piece on one of my recent Picking Adventures in the Up State New York - Finger Lakes Region.
It Measures 10 1/4 Inches Tall x 7 Inches Long - Wide.
