Dating from the late Edo to early Meiji period, this piece embodies the wabi-sabi aesthetic celebrated in traditional Japanese tea culture.

The heavily patinated surface shows decades of authentic age and use, with a richly textured dark iron finish. A repaired crack on the underside has been stabilized in a kintsugi-style repair, adding to the object’s poetic history and character.
