Meissen Blue Onion 4 salad plates. Set of four Meissen plates in the classic Zwiebelmuster (Blue Onion) pattern, hand-painted in cobalt-blue underglaze with a scalloped rim. An elegant late 20th-century set.
Origin: Germany, Meissen. Material: Porcelain. Dimensions: D. 18 cm. Period: Late 20th century. Condition: Very good condition with light signs of use. Marked with Meissen crossed swords, cancelled with two incised lines. Meissen’s Zwiebelmuster was introduced in the 1730s and remains one of Europe’s most iconic porcelain designs. The cobalt-blue underglaze decoration is still applied by hand, giving each piece its own character. Later 20th-century examples are appreciated for their clean execution and enduring quality.
