The Hoya "Snow Lake" plate (also widely known as the "Ice Lake," "Iceberg," or "Glacier" plate) is a famous vintage piece of Japanese art glass designed by the celebrated artist Saburo Funakoshi. Produced by the prestigious Hoya Crystal company in Japan during the late 20th century, this heavy, high-relief crystal pieces feature a polished, smooth top surface paired with a deeply textured, frosted underside. This unique configuration manipulates light to create a stunning, 3D optical illusion mimicking frozen icebergs floating in a wintry sea.
